Dr. Paul Pocock welcomes you to our Practice!! Dr. Paul Pocock graduated from the Royal Dental Hospital in London UK and worked in several hospitals including the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital following which he practiced as a general dentist in England, Australia and the interior of British Columbia. In 1987 he entered the Graduate Orthodontic Program at UWO in London Ontario, graduating in 1989. Dr. Pocock has served as the President of the Orthodontic Society of BC, Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC Dental School and for the last 6 years, as a member of the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team at the Children’s Hospital of British Columbia. Dr. Pocock has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and has lectured locally and internationally. The many organizations he belongs include: Royal College of Dentists of Canada BC Society of Orthodontists Canadian Association of Orthodontists Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics American Association of Orthodontics American Cleft Palate Association When not working, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife Sharon (who works in the office) and their two teenage children Tristan (Dirt Biker!), and Sara (Equestrian Princess!). His favorite hobby is to get away from it all on his old boat ,”Jackaroo”. The Pocock’s favorite charity is the Cleft Palate Program at BC Children’s Hospital.

Smoking can be responsible for the development of periodontal disease. The question we are going to understand today is Periodontal disease mainly due to smoke or the ARE OTHER FACTOR WHICH MAY TRIGER IT?

Lolz my dentist told me that my toothflesh wasnt dmged cuz of smoking xD.And he couldnt figure out what it was either.If it is because of smoking then i stop right ahead.My tooths hurt like hell everyday since 2years now.I have a feeling i gotta move to another dentist cuz this fuck does nothing.

  5. Smoking contibutes to periodontal disease,Other factors such as genetics and also other health issues such as diabetes. But the main issue is poor brushing technique and lack of interproximal flossing- this allows calculas build up subgingivally promoting gingival recession, deepening the pockets of the gums. And eventually periodontal ligament detachment and mandibular and maxillary bone loss. Periodontal disease cannot be cured, just kept on top of.
